Jason, what you fail to see is that by offering $9.99 commissions, and then spiffing up their web site with Dilbert, etc, they are trying to bring in all the investors. That's fine, but Datek got to where they were by catering to active, as well as daytraders. In fact, the principals were daytraders. This ends up bringing the service level down for everyone. If you are not an active trader, then you may never have occasion to have a bad experience with their customer service. In fact, you may never have a problem. But with frequency of trades comes better odds of screw-ups. I would bet that after one problem that you just couldn't get satisfaction from, you would be upset also. You will note I have still recommended them to the non-active traders here. I wish you the same luck.
