Kumar..if it was just a small drop in prices that would not be a big deal.....but we are talking huge magnitudes like 80% in a year. Over the last few months FABs have been stockpiling tons of 16M DRAM trying to unsuccessfully stablize the price. This week the price dropped below $5 and 64M is down to $26. Also this is the busiest season for chip purchases as manufactures get ready for XMAS PC/Electronic sales and the price is dropping like a rock, what's going to happen after XMAS? If there was such a "acute" need for other types of DRAM....why aren't fabs that are losing money switch over to those??
