Dragonspawn; Ah yes the famous Motorola and IBM longterm planning that brought us the Microchannel and Iridium. Both IBM and Motorola have a proprietary mindset. They seek local monopolies that are totally immune to competition. The Microchannel was a dead horse soon after launch, like the Intel SLOT1(which has now been abandoned, yet IBM clung to the microchannel for far too long, Intel sees the writing on the wall). Motorola overcharged for cel phones and Nokia and Ericcson ate Motorola's lunch for them. What makes you think they have learned their lesson?, they may feel that they can carve a huge monopoly zone in China and use that base to cover the earth. recall the japs tried this with computers.....computers you could not give away in north America...yet they were beauties of ergonomic designcraft....just useless with CPM based on Z-80 when we had gone to x86. So count not the chickens prior to the hatching ceremony.
