Hard to defend that since in the 90s the Dems became the party of responsible fiscal management and in the 2000s the Reps became the part of borrow and spend. And this time around Obama is the one who talks about dealing with the deficits.

If I were less of a patriot and a humanist, I would vote for Obama in a heartbeat.

A very strange statement. I hope you are not joining in the chant that Obama is not a patriot. "And a humanist," what does that have to do with the price of corn?

Yep, that would be the easy choice. I don't know why I care about legacy and posterity.

A familiar refrain from a previous president. Perhaps you forgot that.
