I think firing kids up to learn is like firing a shot gun at a bird. You don't know which pellets will hit the bird so you need to fire a LOT. You really don't know what will turn a kid on to learning- for some it is putting just the right book in their hands, for others it's saying something that intrigues them, for others still it's convincing them that you care, and for still others it's selling them on a future that is attainable only through education- and a lot of this involves selling the credibility of yourself.

And some students you can't reach- but someone else can.

It's not like education is one size fits all, but we can do it, if we have the right attitude. IMO

And enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is key.
