The subject of a possible Pakistani airlift of bad guys from Kunduz just before it fell has been raised here recently (in relation to the Seymour Hersh credibility issue). Someone asked me what I thought about it; I didn't know anything myself, so I queried the two serious wonks I know who have written most extensively on the Afghan campaign. FWIW, here's what they had to say:

Expert one: "I don't have any special knowledge of that.... I am a bit hard pressed to see why the US would have gone along with this, and a bit dubious that Pakistan would have/could have flown passenger jets halfway across the country without our permission or knowledge, so I'm dubious. But I don't really have any data."

Expert two: "I'm familiar with Hersh's claims, but no, none of my sources ever said a thing about it. Of course, I didn't ask them about it, either (my interviews were all completed long before this story broke). My gut instinct is skepticism, but I don't have any independent evidence."
