POWERLINE - For What It's Worth
A reader who claims to have sources "close to the Bush campaign" says:
I'm told that pollsters close to the Bush campaign think that Bush is up in Florida and New Hampshire, down in Wisconsin, even in Pennsylvania and Michigan, and "doing well" in Ohio. And they don't think that the exit-poll numbers on NRO about Ohio add up. Needless to say, I don't vouch for this any more than for the rumors I'm hearing from Democrats here. But until we get some hard news, rumors will have to do.

The word here is a Kerry blowout, and almost everyone is happy. But a few people have taken me aside and whispered that they're Republicans too. A moment ago I was coming back to the set from make-up--yes, I know, but they recommended it. I heard a voice call "Rocket Man!" I turned around, and a guy reached out to shake my hand. He's an engineer at Rockefeller Center. "I read Power Line all the time," he said. "Keep up the good work." So even here, we're not alone.

I'm in the basement of Rockefeller Center waiting to go on-air. It's a little like being an animal in a zoo, with crowds constantly passing by. The Democrats are exultant, claiming that exit polling points to a Kerry blowout. The Wonkette has posted some alleged exit polling that does look very good for Kerry; however, I have no idea where she got it, and I'm sitting next to her. Take it with a grain of salt. Or two.

Representatives of MoveOn.org are out in force in Minnesota, setting up tables, holding signs, handing out literature. In some cases, they seem to be violating statutes requiring them to be 100 feet from the polling place. By 10:00 this morning, the Secretary of State's office had received more than 400 complaints. Hard to say, though, whether these people attract more voters than they repel. |
