I’ve always been a fan of JWN due to their excellent customer service, not necessarily for the prices on their merchandise. I’m willing to pay more for customer service, and the ability to send a gift to another state, and know that an exchange or return if needed will be handled correctly.

After being “hit” with smash and grab type of thefts (not “shrinkage” as CNBC likes to call stealing), the shopping center where I shop has greatly increased police presence as well as significant barriers and street closures in place to deter this from happening. Most people that I know in the Bay Area are fed up with the criminal gangs who seem to be behind this issue, as well as those stealing cars, car tires, and breaking into parked cars. Thankfully the Nordstrom store in this area seems to be well protected against this type of crime.

Yesterday the Bay Bridge was shut down for a protest. What a complete mess with the traffic and such an inconvenience and possible life changing event for those caught up in the stopped traffic. Despite anyone’s political views, this is a major crime, that will not IMO change anyone’s political views. A neighbor going into SF for complicated radiation cancer treatment was stuck in this mess, as well as 3 different donor organs being transported to UCSF for various transplant surgeries. A delay like this can greatly change the outcome of the transplant surgery. I hope that most of those involved with this protest will be arrested, but unfortunately SF is at this time too soft on crime.

Thanks for your thoughts on the chart of JWN. I know that it is often one of the most highly shorted stocks, and IMO those who value JWN as just another type of M have never been in a JWN store. They also IMO haven’t actually shopped at JWN versus a M.
