>>Bandwidth demand is growing by about 1,000 percent
per year, while ISP's revenues are growing at a much
slower pace, according to senior officials of leading
ISPs speaking at the Internet Service Provision '98
conference in Amsterdam Wednesday<<

Wow, I think. What does that mean? How far away is the crunch for the different parts of the system? This could be bad for AOL and all the rest. (Anyone here remember Metcalf's prediction that didn't happen?) I think the assumption has been on the side of the tech afficianados technology will always grow the bandwidth to keep up, i.e. make it economical to supply the demands. I have seen other articles in some technical pubs that suggest that internet traffic is considerably more "bursty" than was originally thought.
