The McCain people may finally be getting a grasp on the complex issues that Palin is enmeshed in. The energy industry lobbyists could be complaining to the McCain team about the problems they have with Palin in Alaska, leading to some pressure on her to resolve them.
Here's an obscure tidbit I found supporting my suspicion that the McCain team jumped into this without a full dossier on Palin. After the Palin VP news broke, they suddenly hired Meg Stapleton of Anchorage, Palin's ex press secretary, to prepare a summary of Palin's accomplishments...

Meghan Stapleton, an Auburn native, knows a lot. She served as Palin's first gubernatorial press secretary, and could well play a role in Palin's vice presidential campaign.
Friday, Stapleton, a former TV news anchor in Anchorage, was fielding calls from fellow reporters from all over the U.S., as well as urgent requests from the McCain campaign.
"They (the McCain campaign) just called and said, 'Hey, can you write a summary statement on the governor's accomplishments?' " Stapleton said. "They don't' really have anybody up here to do this." |
