I bought some S3 calls this morning. When it made its run above 16, the deep-in-the-money April 12 1/2s were going for 3 5/8. i hope to catch the next technical wave up into the high teens. The stock dropped like a rock as soon as i jumped in.

this whole sector is way out of favor on the street. i'm long CHPS (glutton for punishment). i jumped in there at 14 3/4 and have ridden it down to 11. no good reason for the fall -- except maybe S3's 3D chips. So S3 is the winner, right? but the street is calling all of 'em losers. fine.

all an investor can do is put money where the fundamentals are good and sit tight until the rest of the world notices the undervalued stock. If you think S3 is selling chips for a profit, ya gotta stick with it. unfortunately, calls aren't the way to stay calm and cool, but i think a long position in s3 looks good, even if it tests 10. i'm still stoked on CHPS, but there's room -- and profit -- for more than one or two companies in graphic acceleration.
