Hope your right.

These sorts of things have a way of spinning out of control. If Russia is planning to bring Georgia back into the Russian federation then Russia will have total control of all the oil coming out of that area and they can squeeze the west.

And if the west trys to play hardball with Russia, Russia can punish the west by easily driving up oil prices which also helps Russia as the worlds largest exporter of oil and NG.

Georgia was vying to get into NATO, so Putin may have wanted to quell that as well. Georgia was sort of the political counter part of our invading iraq i.e. Russia can get away with it and use "genocide" of Georgia Russians as an excuse.

Russia never liked that million barrels a day of oil going through Georgia as it competed with them.

I do not know how this will play out, but everyone is playing with fire. We took our eye off the ball going into Iraq.

We should have left all middle east military stuff to a coalition led by Europe (they have the larger problem with the middle east)and kept our eyes on Russia, China and Pakistan.

World should take care of Afghanistan.

Our foreign policy for the last 8 years has been completely nuts and set us and the world back decades! And made the world a much more dangerous place.

Bush re Putin: "I looked into his eyes and saw his soul and said to myself, this is a man I can do business with."

He looked into Putin's eyes and saw a man like himself!

We are now transporting Georgian troops from Iraq back to georgia. That is another huge bush blunder.

Geeeze!
