"Insite Vision spiked on the news that it hired Paine Webber to 'evaluate opportunities' several weeks ago. It traded back down to its pre-announcement price on no news. After considerable research on our behalf by a third party consultant, we do not believe you will see a buyout of the company. Rather, negotiations are ongoing to sign on a major partner for the glaucoma screening technology. ISV now has a kit for use by physicians to catch glaucoma in its earliest stages. We expect a deal any day, but keep in mind that these sorts of negotiations sometimes stretch out for a much longer period than anticipated. This deal, when and if it is signed, will be for major dollars and should make Insite profitable in 1999."
