Schneider Wins NAA-E&P Circulation Lifetime Achievement Award January 29, 2003 11:45:00 (ET)
ORLANDO, Fla., Jan 29, 2003 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Morris Schneider, former vice president and circulation director for The Times-Picayune, New Orleans, has been named the 2003 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for dedication and service to the field of circulation and the newspaper industry by the Newspaper Association of America and Editor & Publisher. The award was presented during the NAA Marketing Conference, taking place Jan. 26-29 at The Orlando World Center Marriott Resort and Convention Center. The recipient is nominated and chosen by NAA's Circulation Federation board of directors, and the award is presented every two years.
"Morris is one of those classic newspaper guys who learned everything he knows by actually doing it as he rose up the ranks," said NAA Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer John E. Kimball. "But even as he ascended with the company, he never forgot his roots. He is as comfortable on a route with a carrier as he is in the publisher's office. It is a great pleasure to recognize him with this honor."
Schneider spent 32 years at The Times-Picayune, rising to the position of vice president and circulation director prior to his retirement in 2001, and helped the paper achieve the top ranking in weekday readership market penetration at the time of his retirement, according to Scarborough Research. The son of a newspaper dealer, he was introduced to the newspaper business at a young age, and began his long association with newspapers as a carrier when he was 12 years old.
Members of the working press interested in covering NAA's Marketing Conference may register onsite in the NAA Press Office in the Los Angeles room at The Orlando World Center Marriott Resort and Convention Center. Media personnel may be asked to show photo identification and current press credentials, or a letter from an assigning editor on company letterhead.
