The second part of my thought on the matter is, that if the higher speed will work in the lower speed situation, why not market it the 40 to companies looking for a partial up-grade as value added since they wouldn't then have to perform subsequent upgrades to the 40 Gbps level.... ?

If possible, this would seem to leap frog the state-of-the-art (market) and all current competition with a relatively inexpensive product that will save big bucks down the road...
