Malaysia is in the process of developing the "Multimedia Super Corridor" for starters. This is an area between the capital of Kuala Lumpur and the Intl Airport that is about 50 kilometers long and about 30 kilometers wide. Basically it is still mostly jungle and palm oil plantations or rubber plantations at the moment.

They have vigorously marketed this to companies directly involved in multimedia research and applications. So far there have been lots of public "signings" of memorandum of understanding etc. etc. Lots of the major high-tech players have indicated an interest mainly due to the tax benefits and the low cost of developing a site: Sun, Mr. Softy, Motorola, National, and any other major player you can think of. In total I believe they have "agreements" with 50 or so of the biggies.

The only problem is there is basically no infrastructure here to support this kind of a project. Education is OK, but most of the gifted engineers are not staying in Malaysia. Malaysia is recognized as a great place to manufacture tech. products, that does not mean there are resources here to do any development or research work on a large scale. They are working on developing a base of engineers through programs in the local U's but this will take time.

Don't expect any tangible results from the politically derived project for quite a few years. As for RDOX I know nothing but I wouldn't hitch my star to any company that was banking on a Malaysian connection for ANYTHING!
