>>Is that so hard to understand?<< yes. the way you stated it was unclear. now it is clear. ps - the money was made since 1995 through 1998. it would be recognized for tax purposes this year if you sold this year. why do you think mutual funds are valued on the based on market value of their securities at the end of a given year - not based on what they have sold in a given year? b/c it is the ONLY way that makes sense.
