In the body of this article is to me a clear and compelling reason to be positive on SGI's future. In particular the third paragraph below. The biggest life cost of computer systems use is the user folks who customise the particular application that make the system be productive. This is a valuable mindshare turf.

Conference Will Address 'Developing the Future'

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- SGI (NYSE: SGI - news) today announced that it is launching the first annual SGI Global Developer Conference on IRIX® and Linux® operating system software. The theme of SGI's Global Developer Conference will be ``Developing the Future.'' The conference was created in an effort to educate software developers on the wide range of technology development opportunities using SGI(TM) technology.

The first annual SGI Global Developer Conference on IRIX and Linux will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame, Calif., on March 19-22, 2001. The conference is targeted to
software developers who create solutions for the technical and creative users.
