Impsat Selects Newbridge Networks for National Data Network Expansion KANATA, ONTARIO--Multi-Services Platform Provides Private Line and Frame Relay Service Delivery Under Unified Network Management Platform
Impsat, a Latin American value-added service provider with operations in Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia and Mexico, today announced that it has selected Newbridge Networks for the expansion and upgrade of its national data network in Col ombia and Teledatos, Colombia's national backbone network. Impsat will deploy Newbridge(r) MainStreet(r) time division multiplexers (TDM), enabling a smooth migration to advanced broadband platforms, such as the industry-leading MainStreetXpress(tm) fami ly of networking products. Impsat plans to invest $3 billion over the next five years in its Latin American operations.
Newbridge TDM equipment constitutes the backbone of the Teledatos network, a data network jointly owned by Impsat and Empressa de Telecommunicaciones de Bogota (EBT), a service provider in the capital city of Bogota, Colombia. The Teledatos network provi des voice and data services to Colombia's financial and health sectors. Under the agreement, Newbridge will supply the 3600 MainStreet Bandwidth Manager, the 3645 MainStreet High Capacity Bandwidth Manager and the 3600 series MainStreet data termination units (DTUs). This access equipment will be deployed in the Teledatos network, and introduced in Impsat's national data network.
Newbridge will also provide complete end-to-end network and service management through the industry-leading Siemens / Newbridge MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager. This highly scalable, comprehensive network management system offers a multi-services solution that provides effective manageability of services across the entire network - from small, remote offices to large corporate centers.
