Re"ASP" - The ASP is the Average Sell Price. For example AMD's ASP for it's microprocessors was $78 in the last reported quarter. Though Intel doesn't provide that number, various analysts have made some assumptions and come up with $227 for the last reported quarter. Each number is obviously a blend of the prices they received from their cheapest to their most expensive product. AMD has publicly stated that their breakeven point was an ASP of $100 about 9 months ago, but more recently they have talked about $ per wafer. There is currently considerable interest in the ASPs of both companies for the coming quarter. My personal guess is that AMD won't break out of the 70s this quarter due to the collapse of the prices for their large volume chips. My personal guess for Intel is that it will stay in the 220s but I could make an argument that it might drop to around 215 based on reports of huge volumes of the Celerons (though I believe the relatively high priced Xeon volume has also grown substantially).
