Bill, Thanks. IMHO, regardless of what anyone tries to make the rebates out to be, your explanation is probably the closest thing I have seen to what they really are -- a "marketing ploy to milk extra profit from an already-planned price cut".

For those who don't know the history of IOMG management -- senior level comes from a rechargeable battery company and some from Polaroid. They understand "marketing ploys" and the use of rebates. They understand the value of an installed base, squeezing blood from turnips, razor/razor blade model, and most of all MARKETING!!!
