It is what I've tried to explain to you for 10 years now: The federal government had no responsibility to "respond" at all to the flood, yet they did.

The actual poll you're referring to was mentioned here:

"In answer to the question, "Who do you think was more responsible for the poor response to Hurricane Katrina: George W. Bush or Barack Obama?," 29 percent of a pool of Republican primary voters in Louisiana blamed Obama, who took office in 2009, and 28 percent blamed Bush, whose term lasted through 2008. Hurricane Katrina hit on Aug. 29, 2005."

And to an idiot, this probably sounds unreasonable. But Obama took office in 2009 and expectations were high that he would continue the rebuilding that Bush had begun. That didn't happen.

Obama is relatively unpopular in New Orleans, considering the demographics there. And he is TERRIBLY unpopular in all other areas of the state. In NOLA people recognize that Obama failed miserably to continue Bush's work there and frankly, the poor blacks there realize that Obama totally abandoned them. They are not one percenters as he is. He has little in common with the people of NOLA.

I have spent a good deal of time in NOLA over the years. It is being left for dead, imo. NOLA made the mistake of electing Landrieu's brother -- another Democrat -- for mayor and it has been an absolute disaster. But Obama has done nothing for that city which was and is in serious need. And they haven't made all the mistakes Detroit has to deserve what they got.
