I posted a list of the different kinds of hardwood in the area a long time ago.I can get the info again tomorrow if you like.Lon and LAD are important factors.I remember,Brazilian Rosewood, very expensive,TEAC,I'll have to get the list at work tomorrow.Someone was wondering about staining wood because of water temp.It is not the temp so much,it is the absence of air. When the wood is harvested,it will be KLIN dried and that is the best way anyway. As for the mahogony, who cares, most of it is used for under layment on kitchen floors.Very large market for under layment.Call your nearest vinal floor store and ask them what the ratio is on taking up an old kitchen floor verses putting quarter inch under layment down.I saves the customer money and it makes the job go much faster.Like I have said before,I dove about a month ago and cut into a Pine log and the wood was perfect. Our water in the lake by my house ranges from frozen in the winter to 85 degrees in the summer.Bill
