Thanks for responding, SilentZ. I just have one comment, and it's just a side note which has little to do with the overall gist of your post:
Additionally, the social safety net is being shredded there and income inequality is wild... half the wealth of this country is controlled by about 15 people, several of whom don't even live there.
I have some Israeli coworkers, and they tell me that the social safety net there is a lot like Europe. Universal health care, retirement plans, all thanks to taxes that are like half their income.
