Yes, it is quite similair to a parking garage. However, as the technology spreads, and more companies invest in it, prices will drop.
Also, I don't know how much e-mail you receive, but I can hardly fill 1/2 a MB of e-mail, let alone 200 times that amount.
The system is called IFS, and it is run by the Computer Aided Engineering Network here at the University of Michigan. The connection is provided through ethernet, and the transfer rates are incredibly fast. It's true that not everyone has access to ethernet, but they eventually will. However, until then, IOMG will prevail. I am not saying that IOMG is going to do poorly, at least not for the next year. However, after that.... Just my thoughts.
