I just talked to them (USWest) and they're offering free installation for their first thousand "megabit" customers. I'm in NY so I can't go for it; otherwise I'd certainly be among the first to sign up. My costs using a business line for internet at my office is astronomical with Bell Atlantic. Over the long haul, Ricochet will need to compete mostly with wireless providers, IMO, including the satellite folks. I doubt they'll do very well fighting the wireline warfare that is now on the horizon (QWST, LVLT, et al). Over the short haul, though, the dsl services will remove a key attractor for MCOM customers that use their service for fixed pc internet access. An idea what % of MCOM customers are at fixed locations? Might give a clue as to price vulnerability here... -kevin
