It's commerce. Commercials rely more on faith than entertainment, or news (although it helps to cross check your news stories and even then you can't be even 95% sure of the truth- imo). I mean some people really BELIEVE in their laundry detergents. People will tell you that one brand is better than another even though both have the same ingredients. In that sense advertising is just like faith- and it's a part of the media- but it's not the only part.
