Hi Frank,
reinstalls of Windows, So is it safe to assume you are not using NT based Windows
Yes :o(

Actually all my clients (multiuser ones) have client server setups with NT or Unix servers and yes they are very reliable. My problem is that they also use Win95/Win98 clients and so unless I want to fork over many thousands of dollars for a 4GL development system and associated maintenance fees I need to work with a copy of theirs and hence the OS. I don't want to take a chance on my Win 9X stuff 'should work' with 2000.I used to run Unix at home actually but that was before the net became popular and I was still doing character based applications.
Ah! in those days email was often slower than snail mail....

I will however be changing my OS's this fall to a mix of NT (data / print / fax server), Linux (for my old P120 that is running my proxy server + cable backup) and 2000 for my main machine and the family machine. I capitulated after working with that turd Windows ME at a client site.

Oh and my 2 year old is complaining that his old 486 is too slow ........ It's a bit depressing to think how much it cost when it was still a 'Hot Rod' :o) Then again I have lot's of puter projects on the horizon... I need to get my network extended to the patio......, the family machine hooked to the stereo to play some of my almost 200 gigs of mp3's (yes that's gigs not megs) and possibly to the TV to play DVD's as we only occasionally rent movies.
