The rational thing for Quebec to do now would be an attempt to settle.
I would settle for $200 face amount of a 30 year bond yielding 7% for each share I owned. (This would eliminate the need to come up with the $quarter bil or so right now. It would push the cash liability waaay out in the future and would ruffle fewer feathers.)
They know the Supreme Court will have something to say regarding their behavior and that they are NOT above the laws. If they show no inclination to settle, let's go after the $300 per share they actually owe.
