I've not read the thread, but wanted to report that Provigil worked well for me on my last set of graveyards.
I drink much less coffee, and sleep a bit better the next day. Also, without keeping a drug diary or anything, I think I am using less albuterol, for my asthma.
Anyway, I have a little tendency for, er, a touch of IBD, so less caffeine is good. And my blood pressure has notched back down. So far so good.
I was kinda nervous as I took the first tablet, like I thought I'd get some sort of rush. I think my body temp went up a tad after a half an hour, but that's it. Otherwise, didn't feel like I had to lie down for the second half of my shift, which is what usually happens.
Anyway, seems to be a good alertness drug, but does not wind you up. Plus, I can sleep okay the next morning...with a few melatonin tablets.
Finally, I am using no Ambien, tylenol PM and beer to sleep (cringe--don't try that at home). That is, Provigil doesn't seem to stay in your system and cause insomnia or anything. Well done, Ceph, or whoever originally discovered the stuff. |
