It's great to think this election taught the Arab world how a democracy works.

Kuwaitis celebrate Bush victory:
[World News]: Kuwait City, Nov 4 : Kuwait is rejoicing over George W. Bush's victory in the US presidential election.

Bush's father had liberated the country from Iraqi occupation as the US president in 1991, and for Kuwaitis this is all that matters.

"For us, it will be Bush, Bush and Bush, even if the grandson runs one day," a Kuwaiti was quoted in a local newspaper as saying.

Such is the fascination with the family here that a high rise building in the city's upmarket Shaab area is also named after Bush.

Kuwaitis are hopeful that the president will assume a "more balanced approach" towards the Middle East region in his second term.

"Bush will ensure that he completes the task in Iraq and will act more responsibly in the wake of a new mandate," said thinker Mubarak Ajmi.

"This time, Bush's approach will be more pragmatic and more balanced towards the Middle East as he would prefer going down in history for his accomplishments."

Another Kuwaiti said: "The uncertainty over Bush's victory is over and events in Iraq will pose no challenge to his authority. I am sure that violence in Iraq would now abate as those indulging in it know they cannot do anything."

People are also confident that propelled by the new mandate, the US administration will look for a permanent solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Arab media too covered the election extensively. Satellite networks kept a close watch throughout Tuesday night as the polling closed and results started trickling in.

Television channels Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya updated coloured maps of the US with state results, flashed electoral college results and spoke to American and Arab analysts about the election's impact.
