Goutama Re <<Short interest in AMD as of Dec 8'99

Shares Short______ 14.2M >>

Short interest is about 5X average daily volume. That is big. Of course the fact that it is also 13.3% of the float is big also.

It will be interesting to see what happens when AMD reports their earnings which most of think we'll be substantially above street estimates. I hope they all run for cover and push the price much higher. I think too many people are shorting AMD based on historic patterns which clearly tells you to sell here. Also too many people are betting AMD will screw up again not knowing how scalable core the Athlon is and the fact that AMD does not need to push it to the limits like it had to with the K6. Do the shorts even know about the strength in the flash market?

I continue to be very bullish on AMD and my entire position which was purchased early this year at 22 1/16 remains unchanged.
