Telcos are the worst guys to deals with when it comes to new technology. They will never update or install anything unless they have to. Why bother when you don't have to work to collect money? Probably the telco executives hate internet more than like it. Besides, if the ADSL modems can really make money for equipment makers, why can't the telcos make the modems themselves? They are monopolists at heart. IMHO, it is not a bad thing to stay away from the telephone companies when it comes to investing in a equipment supplier. The companies dealing with non-telco customers will be more profitable.
