I don't know how much effect chat lines have on these stocks, but I can guess. SI is pretty popular on the WWW, but I am always the only one in my little non-virtual universe who knows what it is. If I mention it, I'm not surprised if the other person forgets about it. i.e. as popular as it seems, it's not ubiquitous in the investment world. I would guess popular chat lines could effect a few 10's of thousands of shares in a stock like VLNC and thereby move the price a quarter a point or so. To move the stock like today, it takes someone with very large funds so we're definitely talking about a manager or managers and not Joe Sixstox. I think if small investors like myself were piling on and buying and moving the stock that the price would advance steadily all day, whereas a professional buy program would be large blocks at opportune times spread out over days so as to not run the price out of sight for the remainder of the buy program.

Anybody else have any thoughts on this?
