Most of the MM were busy filling orders backed by people like you and
me. My order took 10 minutes to execute after the 9:30 open and it was
set to a limit higher than yesterday's closing ask price. So, generally when a stock gaps up at the open, even market orders will not execute right away. Be carefull, putting market orders on a GAP AT
OPEN situation, because by the time your order is registered by MM,
the price has already gone up quite a bit. Best bet is to use LIMIT
orders, that way you get what you asked for.
