Robert, at this point the only thing that I feel fairly sure about, in the face of the article citing the coming entry of Korea Inc into the GaAs market -- is, that the Koreans are correctly reading the coming demand for GaAs chips. Now, whether or not they can become significant players, and whether or not they can do that in any reasonable period of time, and whether their entry will adversely impact VTSS, that I couldn't say at this point.
My limited info on the subject says that GaAs is no picnic to establish an expertise in, and that VTSS fills the niche for GaAs that INTC fills for microprocessors. And my personal bet is that VTSS will prove just about as invulnerable to assaults by the Koreans as Intel has proved to be. Could be wrong, but I will continue to bet on VTSS at this point. When I see the Koreans building the Fabs and selling the output, I will definitely review the bidding!!
Thankks for injecting that provocative info into the thread! dlo
