Blockbuster Video has agreed with SONY to promote DVD..................................................................................................... Wednesday January 8 7:57 PM EST Sony 6758.T to introduce DVD format in April LAS VEGAS, Jan 8 (Reuter) - Sony Corp said it plans in April to introduce hardware and software with the DVD optical disk format. The company will introduce a "reference-standard" CD/DVD video player, DVD-ROM drives and high-quality movie and music entertainment programs targeted at video- and audiophiles. Sony also said that it agreed with Viacom Inc Blockbuster to expand their existing VHS promotion and demonstration programs to include DVD. Blockbuster will feature in-store demonstration kiosks with Sony DVD players at certain locations, with purchasers of Sony's new DVD player getting special coupons awarding them free DVD rentals at Blockbuster.
