YES!
that was what I was trying to get at. I was caught in a rip tide, and in a car crash, and dragged by a horse, and thrown head first off a bicycle- and in all those cases I remember fear and a preservation instinct, fear giving me a real RUSH of adrenalin and a preservation instinct given me a clear "voice" in my head of what to do.

I remember those situations pretty clearly.

And I remember being very happy not to have died when they were over. Not because I KNOW anything about what happens after death (it might be really cool to be dead)- but I was REALLY glad to be alive anyway.
