The semiconductor sector taking a dive in premarket trading Mo

nday, as worries about the worldwide spread of COVID-19 has triggered a broad selloff in stocks. The VanEck Vectors Semiconductor ETF (SMH) dropped 3.7% ahead of the open, with all 25 components losing ground by more than 2%, as futures for the S&P 500 slumped 2.3%. Of the biggest decliners, shares of STMicroelectronics N.V. (STM.FR) dropped 6.3%, Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) fell 6.1%, Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) gave up 5.5% and Micron Technology Inc. (MU) shed 5.5%. The best performer was Cadence Design Systems Inc. shares (CDNS), which declined 2.2%.
