I was just googling statistics on homosexuality and gay marriage. These days the estimates of male homosexuality is around 2.5% of the population and female homosexuality is less, maybe 1.5% to 2%. Old statistics used to include men and women who had ANY homosexual activity in their past, new statistics use people who are primarily homosexual in orientation.

In places which allow civil unions and gay marriages, the high percentage appears to be Vermont, with an estimated 20% of gay couples entering into a civil union, to Netherlands and Sweden, which allow gay marriage, but only about 3% of gay couples actually get married.

3% of 3% is .09%, so it is possible that only a tiny fraction of gays actually want to marry, and an even tinier fraction of Americans, period.

Weird that such a statistically unlikely event is causing such activism, and such reactivism (is that a word?) The outcome is that even places which formerly allowed civil unions are banning them.
