SEATTLE - It has been a SAD week in Seattle, city of rain, darkness, caffeine, secularism and an 82 percent majority that voted in vain to fire President Bush.

Seattle folks are hiding the sadness well. Either that or the view from Washington may be obscured...or...the reporter is full of bs.

I spent the last few days in Seattle (departed this AM). RON'd at the downtown Sheraton right in the middle of everything for three nights.

Friday and Saturday the streets downtown were packed with people. The shops were doing booming business everywhere. And, fer goodness sakes, all the coffee shops were full.
There were eight parties (I know of) in our hotel in 2 days including one for 850 last night. Restaurant reservations were hard to get at the best fishhouses and as we walked back from Morton's last night at about 8:45PM the sidewalks were still packed with people and it was drizzling. Traffic was still bumper to bumper.

I did not hear anyone talking politics anywhere. I did see some pathetic newspaper headlines. Saturday morning in a Starbucks a guy leaving tried to hand me a newspaper. I said no thanks. He looked at me closer and said I don't blame you the Seattle paper sucks. We both chuckled.

Seattle looked pretty doggone healthy to me, and I got some nifty Christmas gifts. But I'm glad to be back in the boonies.

Made an SF connection at Ft Lewis on Friday morning. That was fun too.
