interesting report however i find it hard to believe the statistics. sure many who drink too much , could be one or two drinks if non drinker and get in an accident may never get in another accident. On the other hand an addicted drinker who drives all the time may only get in one accident , continue to drive and be recorded as a success under interventions. Same with those who do not drive and drink heavy, fall down stairs, fall of porch/deck. etc. it may be a one time accident yet they continue to drink. Just when drinking never use the stairs or go out on the deck.

If an intervention was that easy why do we have most alcoholics seldom recover? I think the results are poor as to those who quit drinking that have the addiction. Many alcoholics go through several weeks of care and yet continue to return later to go through the same programs. Some returning several times.

the occasional drinker, with intervention may make a difference, their statistic says it does. usually an accident is a wake up call for someone drinking too much. However, the report says otherwise and supports their idea of intervention to reduce further hospital admissions. Not too sure they have a valid study.

anyone in auto accident or stopped and found over the alcoholic limit takes mandatory intervention classes for a period up to one year. this study would be a duplicate for auto accidents. i assume they are addressing other types of accidents.
