As innovative user, Compaq ranked #3
15 September 2000 9:49 AM CDT

Among large companies, Compaq is among the most innovative
users of information technology in the world, according to the
12th annual InformationWeek 500, a listing of the 500 most
innovative users of information technology from 24 industries.

To make the InformationWeek 500, a company must
"demonstrate a pattern of technological, procedural and
organizational innovation," with only parent companies with at
least $1 billion in annual revenue eligible. After extensive studies
by mail, phone and fax, InformationWeek surveyed senior IT
executives at each company on their organizational priorities and
spending plans for the year ahead.

Overall, Compaq ranked #3 behind only 3Com and CIT Group.
We placed ahead of such information technology companies as
Cisco Systems (#5); Affiliated Computer Services (#33); IBM
(#35); Lucent Technologies (#36); Hewlett-Packard (#40); SAS
Institute (#50); Perot Systems (#54); Ricoh USA (#59);
Computer Associates International (#62); Dell (#86); Microsoft
(#88); Unisys (#103); Sun Microsystems (#143); Novell (#148);
PeopleSoft (#159); SGI (#190); Parametric Technology (#193);
Nortel Networks (#195); Software Spectrum (#238); Iomega
(#239); EMC (#259); BMC Software (#319); Lexmark
International (#340); Storage Technology (#399); and NCR
(#440).
