I am convinced proprietary document formats will disappear (i.e. become invisible for the user - no more conversions).
The format that will stay will be SGML, or a subset of SGML (like HTML).
SGML (standard General Markup Language) is already a world standard for years in the printing bussiness.
Like you suggest, I think this will happen as a result of intranet and internet communications.
I also think this format standardization will happen rather soon. I already hear this around me in the automation bussiness: corporate accounts with multiple sites think it is an advantage that WP8 has a SGML editor in the suite!
I believe Corel has a good point here, though they don't seem to know it yet .. they don't advertise it.
