Speaking of oil, it's interesting how the price of oil in the US started climbing as the current administration sold off the SOR, then turned thousands of acres of prime drilling land into national parks to "preserve our ecology", when in fact they are preserving the OPEC cartel...

Seems to me that they're all oil men, they just like to shade themselves as environmentalists.

That said, the costs imposed on the economy from energy aren't what they once were. Most calculations on the "cost" of energy are based on outdated measures. The conservation efforts of the early 80's have minimized the impact of large scale energy price increases, which is one reason why a 100% increase in oil prices has gone largely unnoticed up to this point.
