Speaking of fearless. And about the nature of facts. I read this article about several tragic deaths on a railroad track down along the Yuma border. Some illegal immigrants were run over by a train. While sleeping. SO, why would people be sleeping on railroad tracks? Because there was a folk belief that if you slept on the tracks the rattlesnakes wouldn't get you. In a weird, macabre, perverse sense, I suppose it worked. The snakes didn't get them.

I have mixed feelings about this. It seems preposterous. Like one of those things from the Darwin Awards. But real. Yet, I'm left shaking my head with disbelief. This was a family. I guess the moral of this story is "Watch what you believe to be true."

This was a story on the 2nd page of the local paper about a year ago. It was an AP story. I read it 1st hand.
