Praving Re <<I was in Frys in Wilsonville, Oregon today and saw an HP 500 Mhz K6-2 desktop system (HP 6640C, or some such thing). Did HP have these all along, or did I see a model being displayed before its announcement?>>

When AMD announced its K62 500, it noted IBM and HWP (not CPQ) as OEM's for its chip. It was later noted that HWP's machine would initially only be available in Europe.

It is nice to see that AMD based HWP machines are finally showing up in US retail stores.

The other day in Fry's San Diego, I noticed two eMachine (deskttop) that were based on K62's. That was a bit of a surprise to me.

I guess K62 has a lot more life left in it :)
