The crowd was attempting to exact a final judgment on the woman. By stoning her to death, they would be delivering her to damnation as that was the punishment for adultery.

The more relevant story for Clinton's case is Jesus' expulsion of the money-changers from the temple. He is rendering a judgment on the merchants as society is, everyday, when confronted with corrupt politicians, clergy, robbers, thieves, drug dealers, etc. The offenders are removed from their positions.

Of course, if you feel that the first story applies to all judgments as some on this thread mistakenly seem to believe, we should go ahead and empty the prisons. While we're at it, let's forgive all the dead-beat dads, people who don't file or pay tax returns, people who dodge the draft, and so on.
