Alternatively, this site (often a pricewatch leader) has a $142 retail P4 1.6a, and a $18 Volcano 7 fan, but also has a retail boxed xp 1800+ for $106, or the OEM version for $79. tcwo.com Then there's the issue of the additional system cost of getting an 850/rdram system to get near to the claimed performance for the P4, though maybe the DDR P4 boards work better with the NW parts than they did with the old Willamette parts.

Not that I'd particularly expect anything better out of Sharky Extreme, which has been Intel Suckup Extreme for as long as I can remember. No need for Intel PR to use a stick with those guys.
