Kindergarten Class Internet Club Shut Down

AP March 4, 1998- A kindergarten class in Southlake, Texas has been discovered using the teacher's computer to communicate with other pre-schoolers on the Internet. According to Principal Robert Jackson, the kids would distract the teacher, Ms. Penni Westbrook, and then write bizarre stories on an Internet site called "Silicon Investor".

"We're amazed at the way they hoodwinked us," said Jackson, "they had made-up names like X the Unknown and Tastes Like Chicken, and they were really getting pretty wild. They created profiles for themselves had a whole little universe created with aliens and a garden party with some strange characters. They even got into a macabre story about a new kind of coffee made from rat guano. We don't know who the ringleader was yet, but we're working on it."

A source close to Ms. Westbrook said she was unharmed. The children were given coloring books and markers, and appear to have returned to normal behavior.
